Shutter Island

Shutter Island is a Mystery Thriller that came out in 2010. I only heard of it because a good friend of mine recomended it (although she made it sound awful. There is a reason she doesn’t write this).

Leo plays a US Marshal who has been called onto an island prison for the criminaly insane to search for a murderess who has dissapered. The kind of people that stay there tend to look like this image (or at least some of them do). While searching for the missing “patient” (and I use that word liberally) Leo continually runs into various problems or riddle like senarios such as “The law of 4. Who is 67?” (a little hint for you all. The workers at the prson “claim” their are 66 patients). Whenever Leo tries to leave the island something happens rendering his departure impossible.

Now that he has to stay on the island Leo decides to dig deeper into everything that is going on, on the island because things just don’t seem right. After running around the island in a frenzy, he found the guy who he believes set his appartment complex on fire. They then went on to have a match lit conversation which made a fair few things a lot more clear, and a hell of a lot of things more complecated. Around this time we find out this Leo’s wife killed their kids in the lake behind their house which leads me to the best quote in the entire film “Baby, why are you all wet?”

After storming into the forbidden light house Leo finds out the real reason he is on the island in the first place. Without giving it away all I can say is remember the note he found ;). As always thank you for reading and if you have seen it let me know what you think of it. If you haven’t seen it you really should.
